25% of Private School Seats in Moradabad Reserved for Low-Income Families From Next Session

Moradabad Basic Shiksha Adhikari Vimlesh Kumar said that admissions for underprivileged children will be through a lottery system. Parents are encouraged to apply promptly to ensure their child’s admission

Children from low-income families in Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad will now have the opportunity to study in recognized non-aided modern schools. Twenty-five seats have been reserved for admission for students from low-income families in Class 1. Director General of School Education Kanchan Verma has issued instructions to all District Magistrates regarding this initiative.

The process of admission of children will commence from December 1. The admission will be in a total of four phases and will complete by March 27. Last year the admission process started from January 20 and ended on February 18. Children were admitted by July 7. This year, the timetable has been changed for admission of children from low-income families.

Parents have to apply online to get their children admitted in modern schools. According to the new timetable, the Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) must complete the admission process according to the allotment list of non-aided recognized private schools by March 31, 2025.

Children will start attending school from April 1, 2025. According to the instructions, the BSA will release the list of school allocations for admissions in the academic session 2025-26 at the scheduled time. The applications related to admissions will also be verified.

Block-wise nodal officers will be appointed to ensure that 100% of the children applying are enrolled. Help desks will also be established in the District Magistrate, Chief Medical Officer, Block, Basic Shiksha Adhikari and Block Education Officer offices to assist parents who are unable to apply online for their children.

Help Desks will also be set up at the district hospital and Community Health Centers to maximize the benefits of the scheme and facilitate admission of children from low-income families into modern schools.

The District Programme Officer and the Child Development Project Officer of the Child Development and Nutrition Department have also been instructed to promote the admission of children from the poor sections in the Anganwadi area and help their parents in the admission procedure.

Documents Needed For Admission

The documents which are mandatory for the admission procedure include a certificate of annual income indicating that the parents earn less than Rs 1 lakh, a residence certificate, a caste certificate for those from reserved categories, a disability certificate if the child has a disability, and the child’s birth certificate. Admission will only be granted after these documents are submitted.

In the first phase, applications will be accepted from December 1 to December 29, with the lottery scheduled to take place on December 24. In the second phase, applications will be accepted from January 1 to January 19, with the lottery scheduled on January 24. In the third phase, applications will be accepted from February 1 to February 19 and the date of lottery will be on February 24. In the fourth phase, applications will be accepted from March 1 to March 19, the lottery take place on March 24.

Last year, children were admitted in 624 private schools in which 5,126 children from low-income group got admission. This time, children will be admitted across 1,111 private schools, with each school enrolling 25 percent of the students. Admissions will be granted only to the school within the ward where the children reside. There will be no fees for admission or studies.

BSA Vimlesh Kumar stated that admissions for children from weaker sections will be conducted through a lottery system. Parents are urged to apply on time to secure their child’s admission. The department will continue to release the list of school allocations as per the timetable.
