While people take months to earn a few thousand rupees, a gang that used to make Rs 8 lakh in just 20 minutes has been busted by the Delhi Police. This gang was involved in manufacturing fake visas, charging Rs 8 lakh per visa, with each visa printed in just 20 minutes.
Operating out of Delhi’s Tilak Nagar area for the past five years, the gang had sent around 5,000 people abroad and earned over Rs 300 crores. They were exposed following an immigration check at the airport.
Police have arrested seven people in connection with the case. DCP IGI Usha Rangrani reported that on September 2, a person named Sandeep from Kurukshetra, traveling to Italy on a fake Swedish visa, was caught during an immigration check. Sandeep revealed that many from his village had used similar fake visas in search of jobs abroad.
Sandeep had contacted a travel agent named Asif Ali, who promised to send him to a European country for Rs 10 lakh. Sandeep deposited Rs 7.5 lakh into two of Ali’s bank accounts.
Police arrested Asif Ali along with his associates Shiva Gautam and Naveen Rana. During interrogation, Shiva Gautam named another agent, Balveer Singh, leading to the arrests of Balveer Singh and Jaswinder Singh. Both named Manoj Monga, who manufactured the fake visas at a factory in Tilak Nagar. Monga, who has a diploma in graphic design, was arrested after police conducted a raid.
Monga had been introduced to the fake visa trade by one, Jaideep Singh about five years ago, who provided him with the necessary materials. Monga also started providing fake offer letters to enhance the appearance of legitimacy for the visas. The gang produced 30 to 60 visas each month, with visa stickers made in just 20 minutes. They charged Rs 8 lakh per visa and communicated through Telegram, Signal, and WhatsApp.
From Monga’s house, police recovered 30 fake visa stickers, 23 rubber stamps from various countries, three fake Permanent Resident (PR) cards from Italy, three wooden dies from different embassies, four metal dies, 14 original Nepali passports, two original Indian passports, and several other items.
