Andhra Pradesh College Hostel Scandal: Hidden Camera In Washroom Raises Safety Concerns

If there is any problem in the girl’s hostel, immediately complain to the warden or higher department.

Shocking news is coming from Andhra Pradesh, where a secret camera was installed in the washroom of a girls’ hostel of an engineering college. More than 300 videos of girls have been found by the person who installed the camera. He has been arrested, but now a big question has arisen on the safety of girls living in hostels across the country. Earlier in the year 2022, similar news had also come from the girl’s hostel of Chandigarh University.

Girls who study in school or college or work away from home, stay in hostels or PGs in the new city. Hidden cameras installed in hostels to record girls and other such incidents force people to think twice while going for it. After every such incident, women’s safety comes under question. Girls staying in hostels for the first time need to be more cautious about their safety.

Girls Hostel Safety Tips:

Most universities provide hostel facilities to girls, while security is also provided by them. Despite that, sometimes such incidents happen that raise questions about the security of girls and women. Let’s tell you what things are important to keep in mind while choosing a girl’s hostel.

  1. If you are not allotted a hostel on campus and you have to stay in a room, PG, or flat, then always look for accommodation in a residential area. Look for places or societies where families are settled.
  2. It will be better if you already know the person with whom you are going to share a room in the hostel, flat, or PG. If someone is a stranger, then be cautious for a few days.
  3. Before living with a roommate, decide some rules among yourselves. Sometimes boys also come to the girls’ hostel. You should refuse your roommate for these things.
  4. Gather basic information about your roommate. It is important to know things like where he/she is from, where he/she has studied, what his/her family does, etc.
  5. Do not let anyone take your photo or make a video without your permission. Even if you have a good friendship, do not do anything that may land you in trouble later.
  6. If you feel that any student, teacher, or staff is recording you, then definitely complain about it. Do not wait for any accident to happen.
  7. Never roam alone in those areas of school, college, hostel, or campus where CCTV is not available. Follow the rules made by the warden.
  8. If there is no food facility in your hostel and you order food from outside or go out to eat, then do not give your contact details to any outsider.
  9. While choosing a hostel, keep in mind that activities like library and sports should be available on campus. Going outside for these wastes time and also raises questions on security.
  10. It is important to have better connectivity facilities outside the hostel. If you have to go out somewhere or are coming from outside, then the facility should be available at the hostel.
