TMC’s Student Wing Suspends Dr Avik De Who Police Claimed To Be ‘Fingerprint Expert’

The West Bengal state branch of Indian Medical Association (IMA) pointed out that the person whom police have identified as finger print expert is Dr Avik De

Dr Avik De, a first-year Post Graduate Trainee of Surgery Department at the Seth Sukhlal Karnani Memorial(SSKM) Hospital in Kolkata, who the police had earlier identified as finger print expert has been suspended from the West Bengal Trinamool Chhatra Parishad.

“There have been certain allegations against Avik De (PGT, SSKM) regarding the crime scene following the unfortunate incident at RG Kar. TMCP has suspended him from the organization with immediate effect until the ongoing investigation is concluded,” the TMCP said in a press release.

On Sunday, the West Bengal state branch of Indian Medical Association (IMA) pointed out that the person whom police have identified as finger print expert is Dr Avik De. In a social media post, the medical body said, “Please let us know when the great Dr Avik De became Finger Print Expert? (As stated by Kolkata Police). As we all know, he is a 1st year Post Graduate Trainee of Surgery Department of SSKM Hospital.”

A 31-year-old trainee doctor was raped and murdered at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9 while she was resting at a seminar hall after completing her duties.

The prime accused, Sanjay Roy, was arrested a day later.

Amid the ongoing protests, some miscreants entered the premises of the state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 14 and vandalised portions of the medical facility, where the body of the victim was found.
