An elderly man from Bongaon in West Bengal unearthed a gigantic jackfruit at his garden premises, which has made him famous in his locality. The astonishing fact is that he found the jackfruit underground in the garden while cutting through yam. Haradhan Ghosh from Chapaberia in Bangaon has a huge garden area within his residential compound which is full of lush greenery and trees. He recently went to his garden to cut some yams and while on the job, made an interesting discovery.
As he dug up the soil to uproot the yam, he unearthed a rare jackfruit weighing nearly 8 kilograms. This sight left everyone utterly surprised. As news of the jackfruit spread, people from various parts of the area flocked to see it. Haradhan Ghosh mentioned that he had planted yam and papaya trees in a vacant area beside his house. There were already some mango and jackfruit trees in that spot. Due to the monsoon rains, the area had turned into a dense jungle. On that day, while digging up the yam in the garden, he suddenly noticed something reddish and inverted on the ground. Curiosity led him to dig further, and he was stunned to discover a fully grown jackfruit underground. The jackfruit, weighing about 8.2 kilograms, was then carefully unearthed.
As the news spread in the area, a crowd gathered to see the underground jackfruit. The locals, who had never witnessed such an incident before, were equally amazed. While they were used to seeing jackfruits grow on trees, seeing one underground was a surprise to everyone. It is believed that the jackfruit had grown from the roots of a tree below the surface. The colour of this jackfruit is also quite different from the usual ones. Now, the entire village is gathering to catch a glimpse of this unusual jackfruit.
