A youth from Haryana was duped into getting a job at the merchant navy at Kuwait after it came to light that he was given a fake port stamp on his identity document to show his work experience before embarking for his journey to his dream destination, in lieu of Rs 5 lakh.

Rinku who resided at Gokulpura village at Haryana’s Bhiwani was friends with one Ankit Sehrawat alias Sonu, who lived in his neighbouring village. Ankit lured Rinku into dreaming of getting into the merchant navy in Kuwait and living a better life abroad. Getting Rinku engrossed in his dream, Ankit demanded Rs 5 lakh from him in lieu of getting him a job at Kuwait.

Rinku, who dreamt of a life at Kuwait, arranged Rs 5 lakh and handed over all the money along with his documents to Ankit. After a few days, Ankit handed over all documents related to the job in Kuwait’s shipping company and the Continuous Discharge Certificate-cum- Seafarer’s Identity Document (CDC ) to Rinku.

Following this, Ankit asked Rinku to meet one, Amit Kumar, a resident in Gurgaon, who had put a fake port stamp on Rinku’s CDC to show his work experience.

This work experience was to be used for hassle-free boarding passes and immigration clearance at the airport. On the night of August 21-22, Rinku reached Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport at Delhi to go to Kuwait. During the immigration check, due to wrong dates and a mistake in the spelling of Kandla, Rinku was detained by the officials of the Immigration Bureau and handed over to the IGI Airport Police.

According to the IGI Airport police, during interrogation, Rinku revealed the names of Amit and Ankit. A team led by Inspector Sumit was formed to arrest these two accused. On the instructions of Rinku, the police team raided different locations in Charkhi Dadri of Haryana and arrested both the accused. During interrogation, both the accused confessed to their crime. The process of questioning the three is going on.
