Guru Raghavendra Swami’s Aradhana Mahotsava was recently celebrated with devotion and reverence in Puttur, c. This math in Kallare also has a unique history. Raghavendra Math was established in 1978 at Kallare. Today, let’s take a look at the unique history of Raghavendra Math. According to reports, after visiting the Mantralayam for the first time, U Poovappa and Babu Naik of Kallare returned to Puttur with a firm decision that Raya Mrittika Brindavan should be established in Puttur as well. When they put their wishes before the local residents, the villagers offered to help in every possible way. A woman donated 50 cents of land for the construction of the math. Raghavendra Swami Math was established in the same place. The inauguration of the Math was done by the hands of Hiriya Pejavara Swamiji Amrita.
After that, every year, the worship of Raghavendra Swamy is performed here with great enthusiasm. On the day of worship, devotees from all over Puttur visit this math and witness the worship of Guru Raghavendra Swami. Thousands of devotees gather here for the two-day worship program. By offering Annaprasada to all the devotees who come, care is taken here that no person visiting the math leaves without receiving Annaprasada.
In the same way as thousands of devotees gather in the Mantralayam, the same way thousands of devotees flock to this math of Kallare. Another specialty of this math is that the abbots of the Mantralayam, when they come to Dakshina Kannada district, do not leave without visiting this math.
Raghavendra Swami was a Vaishnava scholar, theologian, and saint. He was also known as Sudha Parimalacharya. His diverse oeuvre includes commentaries on the works of Madhva, Jayatirtha, and Vyasatirtha, interpretations of the principal Upanishads from the standpoint of Dvaita, and a treatise on Purva Mimamsa. He served as the pontiff of the matha at Kumbakonam from 1621 to 1671.
