Watch: Comedian Imagines What Olympic Games Would Look Like If They Were Held In Mumbai

Comedian Viraj Ghelani has imagined the events that could feature at the Olympic Games if they were hosted in Mumbai instead of Paris. From splash dodge to puddle jumping, several sports disciplines were part of the roster, which shed light on the daily life of a Mumbaikar. Ghelani collaborated with the city’s Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise, Mumbai Indians, to create the content. They shared the hilarious video on Instagram with the caption– “Mumbai Olympics 2024”. The post focuses on the situation of the ‘City of Dreams’ in the monsoon season, while also drawing attention to its food culture and some other aspects.

At the beginning of the clip, Viraj Ghelani is seen walking along a long street with an umbrella in his hand. That’s when a car came towards him. While passing over a puddle, the vehicle splashed some water on Ghelani who managed to dodge it expertly. The driver came out and gave him the gold medal for winning the event– “1.2-metre Splash Dodge”.

The next sport was eating vada pav, a lip-smacking snack popular among Mumbaikars. Ghelani also stole the show in the contest as he took a bite of a green chilli, which makes a classic combination for street food. The other character once again appeared on the screen and handed the gold medal to the winner of “Vada Pav Eating”.

Viraj Ghyalani then shifted his focus to an athletics event– “5-metre Puddle Jumping”. It was held in the middle of a rain-soaked lane. Ghayani took the acceleration before pulling off a leap over a puddle which secured another gold medal at the “Mumbai Olympics.”

The following event shed light on the challenges of travelling on a local train in Mumbai. The task was to occupy the window seat, beating fellow passengers. Viraj Ghelani completed the assignment in “1.9 seconds” to win his fourth gold.

In the final event, the comedian had to stop an auto rickshaw. Ghelani made it happen quite seamlessly to wrap up his “Mumbai Olympics” campaign on a victorious note.

The video has received more than 5,70,000 views on Instagram, with Amazon Music and Jio Saavn reacting to it. One of the viewers commented, “We all Mumbaikars deserve a medal in this case.” “You guys nailed it,” lauded a user. A person asked if there was any medal for “watching reels.”
