Sources say India has put all borders on high alert amid the unrest in Bangladesh, having faced the issue of illegal immigrants entering the country from Bangladesh for years.
Top Intelligence sources in India have said that Sheikh Hasina’s departure from the violence-torn country is a blow to the democratically elected government. Sources have said that India expects peace in the coming days.
According to sources, India feels that Army rule is never good in any country including Bangladesh. Sources say India has put all borders on high alert amid the unrest in Bangladesh. India has faced the issue of illegal immigrants entering the country from Bangladesh for years.
Sources say that with new developments and parties close to the ISI coming together to rule Bangladesh, India’s major concern will be anti-Hindu sentiments and top level officials in India will soon speak to all stakeholders in Bangladesh to give safety to Hindus.
While more than 100 people have been killed in anti-quota protests in Bangladesh, incidents of Hindus being attacked in some parts were reported. In Noakhali district of Bangladesh, anti-quota protests have escalated and protestors started attacking Hindus. In exclusive footage accessed by CNN-News18, attackers were seen trying to enter a Hindu home in Noakhali. They tried to break the gate of one Tanusreya Bhatta’s residence.
In the footage, women were seen terrified and crying while saying “bhagwan, bhagwan”.
In another incident, protestors killed two Hindus in the Rangpur town. They attacked and lynched Hindu Awami League leader Haradhan Roy and his nephew.
Top sources had told CNN-News18 that the Indian government was in touch with the top brass in Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh army chief Waker-Uz-Zaman said he would “form an interim government” after Sheikh Hasina resigned and fled the capital in the face of overwhelming protests. “I am taking full responsibility,” the general said, although it was not immediately clear if he would head a caretaker government. “We will form an interim government,” Waker said in a broadcast to the nation on state television, adding that Sheikh Hasina had resigned.
Top sources told CNN-News18 that Sheikh Hasina will be landing in Delhi soon and will leave for London. Sources said she will be taken to a safe place in Delhi for the time being as her departure is not immediate and she will be meeting top Indian bureaucrats on Monday evening.
