The Indian-origin CEO of a US startup has promised free visas to all countries for a day to his users if athlete Neeraj Chopra wins a gold medal at the Paris Olympics. The LinkedIn post by Mohak Nahta of Atlys left internet users surprised and excited, with many queries about how to apply for the offer.
“I will personally send a free visa to everyone if Neeraj Chopra wins a gold at the Olympics. Let’s go, India," he wrote in a post on LinkedIn.
Chopra, who will compete in the men’s javelin throw on August 8, is the defending champion and is one of India’s biggest medal hopes. Atlys helps users with fast travel visas with the latest information about the travel destination.
After his offer generated much curiosity, in another post a few hours ago, Nahta explained the deal to his users.
“On 30th July, I promised everyone a free visa if Neeraj Chopra wins Gold. Since a lot of you asked for details, here is how it will work: Neeraj Chopra competes for medals on 8th Aug. If he bags Gold, we will offer one free Visa to all users for one entire day," he wrote.
Nahta further said there will be no visa cost and all countries are covered under the offer. “Will we charge you anything? Your visa will cost you ZERO – it is completely on us. Which countries are covered under this offer?
All countries – choose wherever you want to travel to next," he added.
All users have to do is drop an email in the comments so that Atlys can create an account with a free visa credit, Nahta said. The post garnered more than 2,000 reactions (at the time this report was being filed), prompting a wide array of comments.
While many people hailed the CEO’s “patriotism" and “impressive" marketing strategy, others praised him for innovation.
