Ajmer Boy Posts Photo of Ceiling Fan Online, Police’s Swift Action Prevents Suicide

In the post, he expressed his despair with phrases like "bye-bye" and apologised to his family, indicating he felt he would no longer be seen.

In a concerning trend of a rise in suicide cases among young people, the police have formed a specialised team to monitor social media for posts that indicate suicidal thoughts. Thanks to this initiative, a young man in Rajasthan was saved just before attempting to take his own life.

At 1:45 AM on October 17, the 18-year-old from Ajmer, identified as Sahil, posted a troubling message on social media accompanied by a photo of a fan in his room. In the post, he expressed his despair with phrases like “bye-bye” and apologised to his family, indicating he felt he would no longer be seen.

The district police’s social media cell quickly detected the alarming post and acted promptly, dispatching a team to Sahil’s residence. Thanks to their swift response, officers were able to reach him in time and provide the necessary support, preventing a tragic outcome.

SHO Shyam Singh confirmed the details of the incident, highlighting the emotional turmoil Sahil faced due to a romantic betrayal, which contributed to his distress.
