Pannun A Terrorist, Goon, And Criminal Supported by Foreign Agencies to Defame India: Govt Sources to News18

Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, leader of the secessionist group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), is a terrorist, goon, and criminal supported by foreign agencies to defame India, top government sources told CNN-News18 on Friday.

Pannun is Pakistani ISI’s plant in the United States to create Khalistan and it suits American agencies also, they added.

“Pannun should be extradited to India on an urgent basis as probes in many cases are pending and we need to give justice to victims,” said a source.

NIA Cases

1. NIA Case No. RC-03/2020: Accused of conspiring to promote Sikh separatism and Khalistan.

2. NIA Case No. RC-04/2020: Charged with sedition, promoting enmity, and unlawful activities.

Status

1. Pannun is currently in the US and has not been extradited to India.

2. Indian authorities have issued non-bailable warrants against him.

3. Interpol has issued a Red Notice against Pannun at India’s request.

Pannun is accused of orchestrating attacks and protests against Indian consulates and diplomatic missions worldwide.

The Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) group has been involved in several protests and incidents targeting Indian missions in the UK, USA, and Canada. Here are some notable examples:

Indian Consulate in San Francisco: In July 2023, Khalistan supporters allegedly set fire to the consulate, prompting a strong reaction from the US State Department.

This incident was linked to the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a Canada-based separatist leader.

Indian High Commission in UK: In March 2023, pro-Khalistan supporters attacked the Indian High Commission, taking down the Indian National Flag and chanting slogans.

Indian Consulate in Brisbane, Australia: Although not in the UK, USA, or Canada, it’s worth noting that in February 2023, Khalistani supporters targeted the Indian consulate in Brisbane, Australia.

Threats to Block Indian Embassies: SFJ has also threatened to block Indian embassies in the US, UK, and Canada on Republic Day.

Previous Incidents: There have been other incidents, including vandalism and protests outside Indian missions in these countries, often linked to Khalistan separatist movements

1.⁠ ⁠New York (2020): SFJ protesters vandalised the Indian Consulate in New York, damaging property and injuring security personnel.

2.⁠ ⁠London (2019): SFJ activists clashed with police outside the Indian High Commission, leading to arrests and injuries.

3.⁠ ⁠Toronto (2019): Protesters vandalised the Indian Consulate in Toronto, smashing windows and damaging property.

4.⁠ ⁠San Francisco (2018): SFJ protesters demonstrated outside the Indian Consulate, alleging human rights abuses in India.
