Security forces have apprehended Sujata, a prominent female Maoist with a bounty of Rs 1 crore, during an operation in Telangana. Sujata, who heads the Bastar Division Committee of Naxalites, is linked to numerous high-profile crimes in the Sukma region of Chhattisgarh and has been wanted across several states.

According to reports, Sujata had been suffering from illness and travelled from Chhattisgarh to Kothagudem in Telangana, for medical treatment. Upon receiving intelligence about her whereabouts, security forces swiftly moved to apprehend her.

Sujata is notorious for her violent past, having chosen the path of militancy at a young age. She is said to have operated in the forests of Bastar, drawing comparisons to the infamous bandit Veerappan. Notably, she is believed to have trained the feared Naxalite Hidma in the use of firearms and tactics.

Born in Bengal, Sujata is well-educated and multilingual, speaking Bengali, Hindi, English, Odia, Telugu, Gondi, and Halbi. After marrying a Naxalite leader, she relocated to Bastar following his death.

Her involvement in major Naxalite attacks, such as the Tadmetla incident and the 2010 Dantewada attack, as well as the Jheeram Valley attack, further solidifies her reputation as a key figure in the Naxalite movement.
