Tricked by Eatery on ‘Unlimited Meals’ Offer, Passengers Create Ruckus at Karnal Bus Stop

The bus driver and conductor sided with the passengers, accusing the eatery of fraudulent practices. The ruckus eventually led to police intervention, which managed to control the situation

The new bus stand at Haryana’s Karnal found itself at the center of a controversy yet again, this time sparked by a deceptive food offer. The incident unfolded when a restaurant, hoping to attract passengers disembarking from buses, advertised an “unlimited” meal for Rs 150.

Enticed by the offer, numerous passengers flocked to the eatery. However, to their surprise, requests for additional servings of lentils and vegetables were met with only gravy. This sparked a heated argument between the passengers and the restaurant owner. The bus driver and conductor, witnessing the unfair treatment of their passengers, joined the fray in support of those who felt cheated.

As the dispute escalated, a large crowd gathered, creating a chaotic scene at the bus stand. The commotion eventually led to police intervention. The bus driver and the conductor, presenting their account to the police officers, claimed that such fraudulent practices were common at the bus stand, with restaurants and dhabas routinely overcharging travelers.

Despite police efforts to de-escalate the situation, tensions remained high. Ultimately, both the restaurant owner and the passenger who initiated the complaint were taken to the police station. After much mediation, both the parties calmed down and were released.

According to locals and frequent travelers, such deceptive offers are used to prey on gullible customers.
