‘Don’t Go Haryana Way In Maharashtra Polls’: Inside Details Of Congress Leaders’ Meet With Kharge, Rahul Gandhi

Maharashtra Congress leaders have been told not to make public statements and talk about who should be the CM. It has also been decided that Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge will micromanage the affairs of the state for the upcoming assembly poll

Do not repeat theHaryana poll debacle, where the Congress lost a winning election to infighting, in Maharashtra – This was clear instruction given to Maharashtra Congress leaders at a meeting held at party chief Mallikarjun Kharge’s home.

Also present at the meeting was Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi, who has been miffed with the party leaders of Haryana for giving away the election to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The Maharashtra Congress leaders were given instructions, as the party feels it could win the upcoming state election if they don’t repeat the mistakes made in Haryana.

There is no denying that in Haryana, the constant bickering between the Hoodas and Kumari Selja and their supporters made the party look bad. Not just this, many claimants for the Chief Minister’s (CM) post also made the party look out of sync.

In sharp contrast, the BJP, despite Nayab Singh Saini being called a “weak CM” by the Congress, looked more in control. This was conveyed to the Maharashtra Congress leaders.

They were told nobody should make public statements and talk about who should be the CM. “That’s for the central leadership to decide,” was the message conveyed.

The leaders have been told not to make any public statement on ticket distribution or the tickets the Congress wants, but the Shiv Sena UBT or Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) is reluctant to give.

In fact, all Maharashtra Congress leaders have been asked to get cracking and hit the ground and make the point that the Eknath Shinde government can’t ensure safety of people and law and order has collapsed.

It has also been decided that Gandhi and Kharge will micromanage the affairs of the state. This is an election which the party cannot afford to lose or let go the Haryana way.
