In the hope of a better future, many Indian youths have planned to study abroad. These days, there are hardly any institutions where there is no long queue of applicants. Students who ultimately get to go abroad to fulfil their dreams should also be warned about the negative side of staying in certain places. In the last five years, 633 Indian students have died abroad due to various reasons, including accidents and violent attacks, according to the Ministry of External Affairs. That is on average, one Indian student has lost his life every third day.
If we talk about the data given by the Foreign Ministry then in the last five years the maximum number of deaths of students has happened in Canada (172) followed by the USA (108). Canada also saw the most deaths due to attacks. Things to take care of when you are abroad:
As soon as the candidate reaches his or her destination, they must immediately contact their Indian Missions. Attending the reception organized by the Indian Missions is a must so that you can meet the officials of their respective Missions. Apart from this, the candidates must register themselves in the MADAD portal of the Ministry of External Affairs: madad.gov.in, so that help can reach out to them in times of difficulty.
Follow the guidelines of the Indian Missions Abroad
Keeping in mind the dangers and challenges that Indian students might face someday, the Ministry of External Affairs has issued guidelines. These guidelines tell the students to keep themselves safe from any danger and to have all the protective measures with them. Apart from this, the officials of the Indian Missions Abroad also visit the universities from time to time. Students are also expected to tell the officials if they face any problems regarding anything.
