A Pune woman was gang-raped by three men in the Kondhwa area while out with a male friend. The survivor is currently receiving treatment.
A 21-year-old woman was gang-raped by three unknown men in Maharashtra’s Pune. The incident happened late on Thursday when the woman was out with a male friend.
According to the police, the survivor and her friend were in the Kondhwa area when the three miscreants attacked them.
They thrashed the woman’s male friend and gang-raped the woman, at nearly 11 pm, after which the man took the survivor to a hospital, where is undergoing treatment.
The police said the matter was reported to them at nearly 5 am on Friday, and that three people were detained for questioning.
They were identified as residents of Pune but were history sheeters, police said.
Meanwhile, ten teams of the crime branch were formed to nab the miscreants, they said.
The police also said the survivor hailed from Jalgaon in the state, while her male friend was from Surat in Gujarat. Both studied at a college in Pune.
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) leader Anand Dubey condemned the incident and slammed the Eknath Shinde government in the state, accusing it of being unable to protect the women.
